A product review coming soon!

CSN Stores have offered me a chance to review a product available on their site in my blog. They sell pretty much everything under the sun so I have plenty to choose from, anything from children's luggage to cookware. They even sell Finnish designer glassware, silverware and cookware by Iittala which I think I will review. How can I turn down the opportunity to get a $55 gift card to buy Iittala products?

We left our Iittalas to Finland to storage when we moved to the United States. My husband is traveling in business to Finland in January and I have asked him to bring some of my favorites with him, I miss them too much but can't afford to buy new ones from here. Here are some Iittala products.

Decorating with fabrics from IKEA

I confess, I bought fabrics from Ikea AGAIN! I just love them. I bought this beautiful red white fabric ($8.99/yard) to make some curtains. Our little house looks now like a summer cottage or an elves house.

This bird fabric went well to cover glass doors in a built in cabin in the living room. The fabric covers now all the mix match dishes we keep inside and it looks almost like an art work itself! I turned the edges and sewed them and then stapled it to the inside of the door.

Mailordering dairy cultures.

Especially now when pregnant (Yay! 23 weeks!) I am missing Finnish Viili, a cultured dairy product a little bit like yoghurt but nothing like it anyway. I found a website in the US from where you can order fresh cultures, also for viili! What a lucky day. I will order some soon, it is now too hot (95F/35C tomorrow) for mailordering fresh dairy cultures. Here is a link to the Gem cultures. More about viili in Wikipedia. I will let you know how making my own viili goes.

Gem cultures sells also sour dough rye bread starter. We brought that with us from Finland, a 15 year old starter and we use it to make our own sourdough rye bread weekly. My husband bakes it so I guess I can't say "we" ;) The bread has only the starter, organic rye flour and water. It is good!
