I hosted last week a giveaway where Tropical Traditions sponsored one quart of their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil to one of the readers of my blog. Kylie C. won the oil! Congratulations, Kylie!
The giveaway went well so Tropical Traditions offered a gallon of coconut oil for another giveaway! I don't mind hosting a giveaway of a good product and the last giveaway really helped direct more people to my blog. And it is fun to give coconut oil to a random person and brighten their day!
To participate and get a chance to wine a free gallon of coconut oil, all you have to do is click your way through the options in the Giveaway Tool gadget in the end of this post and you are entered in the raffle. The winner will be chosen randomly by the Giveaway tool program and will be announced on the gadget and my Facebook site and Twitter when the giveaway ends.
The only requirement to enter the giveaway is to sign up for the Tropical Traditions Sales Newsletter (link below) - which is great anyway as you hear then of all the sales. I would love to hear in the comments what you like to use coconut oil for though so please post your ideas! The winner will have 48 hours after I contact them to send me contact info for the shipping of the coconut oil. Good luck!
I use Tropical Tradition's coconut oil myself and I am excited to give the blog's readers a chance try some too. They don't require me to praise their product but I am going to share what I use it for anyway. I use the oil for most of my cooking, frying, baking and even on my skin as a moisturizer. I use olive oil for salad dressings but that's about it. I also use it to make my home made deodorant and unpetroleum jelly.
I also use coconut oil daily for oil pulling which is an old way of taking care of your teeth. I basically swish the oil in my mouth for about 10-20 minutes before brushing my teeth once daily. It can be done with another vegetable oil as well but I like coconut oil because of the taste.
Since the FDA does not want us to discuss the health benefits of coconut oil on a page where it is being sold or given away, here is the best website to read about the health benefits of coconut oil: http://coconutoil.com

I order my coconut oil often in gallon buckets like this because it lasts for a long time (a couple of years I believe, except not for that long in my household) and it is cheaper that way. If you order by clicking on my links and have never ordered from Tropical Traditions in the past, you will receive a free book on Virgin Coconut Oil, and I will receive a discount coupon for referring you. Thanks for your support!

Delete3/4 cup coconut oil, 3/4 cup cocoa powder, 3/4 cup sweetener ( I use honey and only put in about 1/4 a cup because I love dark chocolate.). Mix it all together and you can put in a little vanilla or sea salt for taste. Pour into a greased pan and stick in the freezer for about 30 min. It melts easier than typical chocolate (because of the coconut oil) and it's pretty rich/dark. At some point I'm going to try experimenting with adding coconut milk to lighten it up a bit.
DeletePutting it in tea amazed me th firs time I tried! I was feeling a bit feverish so I made a pot of chamomile with ginger and cinnamon, stirred in a tablespoon of coconut oil, fell right asleep, and in the morning I felt fine! I haven't gotten sick once this winter, and I live in northern Minnesota with an outdoor job!
